Gonna put my grumpy old man hat on here, and say that fancy-pants plugs and leads make bugger all difference unless the old ones are poked or have the wrong gap. Platinum, split electrodes and all that rubbish make no difference in mx5s. Save money and replace more often and check your gaps ;)

A spark will ignite the mixture whether it comes from a rare metal electrode or not 8)

I disagree just a little here, agree with the leads just buy some new ones. As for the plugs I bought the best ones I could, just from supercheap I think they were plantim. They did make a diffrence. The car reved out quicker and much smoother. Dont change the heat range just buy good plugs, (talk to supercheap) they will last forever and are woth it.

the big difference is whether they will last more than a year or not. History has proven that the NGK leads stand the test of time better than others. Same with plugs. i wont use anything other than good old fashioned NGK's.

No matter what... go NGK BKR6E 11 standard or platinum, the iridium's are just overkill .
Same for plug leads,NGK,In saying the the ULTIMA 8mm silicone leads are nice as well,Run those on my own car

They are handmade and have capacitors built into each lead. :D
