Brake fluid leak
The brake leak was repaired yesterday, luckily I'd picked the day that they had put aside for red cars.
The cause of the problem was pitting on the bore of the brake cylinder caused by water build-up in the brake fluid. An expensive reminder that brake fluid does absorb moisture and should be replaced regularly. Every twelve months was a suggested interval. The fluid had leaked onto the brake pads so they needed replacing too.
As regards Sterling Brake and Clutch, Bob and Eric's comments were borne out in that they seemed to be a helpful group that provided competent service.

How much did they charge? When one of my rear brakes started leaking the
seals were replaced and I think I was charged around $265
