As you will see in the picture, my 96 VR-A seats need to be fixed. What I was wondering was whether anyone has brought in replacement seat covers from USA or elsewhere and, if so, were they any good? Also, are these the same seats as in NZ-new MX5s and USA-new Miatas? If no experience with replacement covers, are there any good auto upholsterers that would be recommended (I'm in Pukekohe)?

I spoke to Rusty at Pukekohe Car Upholstery several years ago about re-upholstering MX5 seats. He said that design was such that it would be a very expensive exercise. While he wouldn't turn down the job (and he does good work) he didn't think it would be economical.

He said much the same to me when I saw him, but I've heard his work is good, and I'm keen on keeping it as original as possible, if possible. I may be pestering him soon.
