Workshop manual says to silicon it back in. Not happy with it but have no option for now so going to get a 10mm brass fitting instead. Got anal with bolts... I can't stand the sight of rust now...

Throttle body siliconed and permanently on now

Also have the front part of the coolant reroute permanently done

Coils arrived and will throw them on on Friday/Saturday.
From CXracing have read mixed reviews but you get that with everything and they feel sturdier than the Tiens that were on my car a while back.
And a glimpse of the future and the future is ugly but functional
the filter is junk but no play in the turbo and a workable manifold and down pipe but hey got it dirt cheap and have seen the setup running so yeah the future is a t3t4 hybrid... Well I guess they were right Hybrids are the future.
and must resist urge to just run a screamer pipe . Oh and new bumper should be on its way soonish too.

Ordered a passengers side seat to match and foamectomied the cushions that came with driver's side one - the back cushions and seat pan cushion are now approx 1cm thick and the thigh cushion is about half the original height:
Will use it with the cushions for DD and without the bottom/seat pan cushion for events/when wearing a helmet.

Awesome to support ZOOM, i actually found Takashi Koga-san through facebook and bought one from him through that and paypal. It's a great piece but hard to keep polished!SKREEE wrote:well heres the link http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/auc- ... wsehist_enJoel wrote:Did you get the ZOOM lid new from ZOOM?

The thought has crossed my mind but this chassis is pretty much toast, would need to go on a straightener then probably tube frame.
Will likely get another shell and swap as much as i can over.
Had the go-pro running when it happened

Decided a Driveshaft loop was needed before i cracked on with painting the floor.. probably weighs more than the carbon fibre driveshaft tube..
for reference spec is 50x5 mild steel, 4x m10 fasteners and minimum 30cm2 for each mounting plate. Has to be within 250mm of the centre of the front universal. The 250mm is an amendment as the old dimension was 150mm..
then floor paint time..
Then cage paint time..
only doing the primer with the old suction gun until the new devilbiss gravity guns turn up.

Well, last week I gave these pedals and parts a clean up to remove some very minor surface rust and gave them a lick of paint
And today I removed my passenger seat and played parts tetris fitting everything in snuggly in preparation for my tikitour tomorrow down to Auckland where I will drop my baby in to be changed from auto to manual.
The pic is very crappy, but you get the idea

Final few pieces coming together now and 1 set back. James came over and let me compare his with mine so I could see whose was bigger, and where the hoses went that I was stuck with.
This hard line was rusted to fuck, it attaches to the body and joins the motor radiator hose to the lower rad hose. One solution, wire wheel, rust kill and some paint.

Also managed to get pretty much all of the ancillary hoses back on and done up. There's 1 tiny vacuum hose under the throttle body that I don't have, and I'm replacing the fuel hose too.
Pics of motor in it's current state.

The current problem I have - unsure whether it's a concern or not is re: waterpump. The waterpump pulley (Above the crank pulley) Is EXTREMELY hard to turn by hand on this motor, but not on the wrecked one. Will await responses from people in the know and replace the waterpump if that's the case.
Some good news is that I've sorted out the situation with the coolant overflow. Got one of these coming.

Also looking at the waterpump from 949 racing - This is more so when I forget where I was looking I can remember. Has a cast impeller rather than a spot welded one. - http://949racing.com/water-pump-miata.aspx

Nice job, compared to the stock seats; how difficult are those seats to get
in and out of?

Got both seats in:

And looking shiny before getting covered in dust/mud at an autocross:

I went for an awesome drive today
At the end of last week I picked up my car after 2low2c had converted it from auto to manual and today I changed my front springs over to some dobi sport and put my car through some nice tarsealed back roads to bed the springs and had a lot of fun
It honestly feels like I have a new car
