Some cage progress from yesterdays work session.. Progress was relatively swift thanks to my mate who has just completed his EF civic cage this week so he has his tube notching eye in.

Main hoop in.

this is where we got to last night, so one more day should get close to sorting out the harness bar, main hoop diagonal, and door stays & gussets.

Right. Brakes are almost done again - Booster is in, MC is cleaned and just getting a lick of paint to tidy up the body of it. Wiper arms, boom and cowl all repainted and back in the car. Wiper motor and fuse box to go back in tomorrow night and then clutch master.

For now I'm going na8 with some high quality pads, fluids and rotors and will switch it up when I out brake them. I used to keep up with the boys I raced with on factory brakes so don't want to drop 1k there until I've outgrown them.
Ducting to custom stone shields is likely to be one of the early mods once it's running again.

Time to free up space - got the biggest thing ready to paint. It also means the motor can go in... (awaiting 2 gaskets and and paint for gearbox...)
Pre prep and then some faithful brakleen
Hit it with a wire brush on my drill
Hosed down and another round of brakleen
Finished off getting the last off with my dremel
She's ready for paint now. Will be using hammerite on it.

It's not a MX..
bit it's a mazda
RX7 has landed..
Parting out most of the stuff we're not using..
Power Fc,
HKS EVC,
hard pipe kits..
interior/exterior
Keeping the Tein Winding master with EDFC and diff,
Pretty sure it has mazdaspeed side skirts,
Going 20mm wide body
280 wide rear and 240 wide front slicks
We're hoping to get the car under 1100 kg race weight,
18x9.5 & 10.5 Works, AP brakes, at Least 500hp LS2, dry sump and tilted gear box drop everything as low as possible.
Chromoly suspension arms and drop knuckles to keep everything square.
We really like the old IMSA racing colours, so we're kinda basing it of them..
So far, we've kinda come up with this..
It's definitely a work in progress and it'll change as we go..
The plan is to run the car in endurance racing to beat the guys that we work/worked for and whose cars we built..
Like this 650hp M3 that we took to bathurst 12 hour last year.
And also running it in GT2 class as well.
XD

What he means is 600hp or nothing (my car is the nothing option)!BRM wrote:evel wrote:BRM wrote:...at Least 500hp LS2...
Sad face to 500hp or ls?
=p
With that much power I think your car should have more of this type of look but htat's mainly because they've been showing it on repeat here and it's one of the few english shows I've seen for a while...

A productive few days. Subframe is hammerited. Few touch ups here and there. Recommends 2 coats over bare metal with the primer, 1 coat over paint. I did 2 over paint on top, 3 on bottom as I'll inevitably scratch it. Cost about 45 a can, and about 20 for the primer. Went on, oxidised red and brushed the lot.

Also got my master cylinder tidied up. Cleaned the plastic and repainted the metal. Excuse the messy loom. It's there so the car will run then it's disappearing.

More cage work today.
We Managed to sort the dash mounting and cutouts for the forward laterals then moved onto the diagonal in the main hoop with start of harness bar.
Harness bar complete.
Couple of forward lateral braces.
No windscreen bar as it was too short (should have checked it earlier I guess)
So put the car to bed early.
