When I moved to nz from dear old shoddy england, I met my missus. She had a 94 1800 and I got to drive it around for a couple of weeks. Yeah I was hooked. So it was a toss up between the 89 or an MGB Tin top. Ended up with the 89 which I had for about 6 years. Sold eventually as I needed something more practical for band equipment.
In the meantime the missus upgraded to an NC and gave me her old 1800

So now had a 4wd, a 94 1800 and use of the NC . Loved the NC but for me it was not an MX5 - it felt like a 'proper' car i.e. safe with air bags and shit. Wheras what I loved about the NA's were the 'seat of the pants' flying around corners, the NC never felt like the back end was going to slide

Anyway, I sold the 1800 as I didn't like it as much as my 89, just not as 'nippy' and I had a hankering for some turbo. Next step was a 1990 MR2 GT. Shit that satisfied my turbo wantage. Had that for a couple of years and would scare myself very often. They are fantastic cars but unpredictable if you don't have the right rubber on them. It got totalled when somebody tapped the back end of it. Literally at 15km/h. Bent the chassis

So thats when I ended up with the BRG

The missus in the meantime sold the NC and got a Peugeot RCZ. That was a fucking monumental car, but I was shit scared of marking it lol. Twin turbo mentalness available for me on tap, and nice open top MX5 motoring when I wanted to have shitloads of fun!
So thats my potted history... the missus has since moved to a Mini Cooper Convertible as she loves the top down feeling, and the RCZ plain scared her - tyres at 800 bucks a piece.
Oh and I sold the 4wd at some point to go on holiday. Now I have a shit load of guitar gear, big amps and a PA that can never leave the house haha....
