Wow, I just had a look through that thread now lol. Wouldn't even bother arguing with them... my insurance broker gave me a call yesterday morning and said my car's claim had gone through at our agreed valued (70k) because the information and valuations they'd been receiving from dealers was higher at the market price they list them for (from the few records they do have). No point arguing with that grumpy bunch though!

Nope, got it back in one piece (mostly) - if it were to have been missing another week, they would've paid me out, but now they're just covering all my repairs. So I'm getting Nissan to drop the drivetrain and thoroughly check every mechanical aspect of the car, Final Touch detailing will have a day or two with the car and then finally I'll leave it with my painters/panelbeaters who will do what needs doing

Just making sure nothing's unchecked before having it returned

Stig, I am glad you have gotten your car back, its good that things are sorting themselves out slowly. I would also like to commend you on not playing hero because when guns are involved its simply not worth the risk. (I am assuming you complied and tried to get out of the situation ASAP without funny business because you don't have recently installed body ventilation)

Cheers mate, I actually turned around to punch the guy and attempt to pull him out of the car (hero!) when I realized there was a gun pointing at me, so at that point, and after assessing the vast open areas around the car with nowhere to run and in a relatively isolated location, I knew there was nothing I could do at that point and had to get out. It was a good move as apparently he has an extensive record of methamphetamine charges (as well as all the others) and staff at McDonald's that night said he was sweating and looked on-edge, so he may have been under the influence.
I would've been more than happy to try my luck at running away as I used to be a sprinter, but I also knew I couldn't have possibly ended up in a bloody worse spot!

Hey guys, just a bit of an update:

Seemed to have deleted the raw file, but anyway, it's back home now! Couple of minor things left to do, but will be sorted early next week and plates should be back around the same time My painters finished with the car a couple of weeks back, but as it was holiday period I left it at the shop until everyone was back at work. Detailers just finished with it today and did a great job and the interior is like new again, the forensic dust was absolutely everywhere when I dropped it in, so it wasn't the easiest job in the world for them!
