I also DISCOVERED my Momo steering wheel yesterday thanks to MrGrey..... He was miffed as to why I still had my cover on my steering wheel. I replied that I was not aware what lay beneath...... Off it came and there was My Momo....
All you newbies that also dont know this can check their steering wheel and see if middle cover lifts to reveal the racy look. It must make your car quicker as it reduces the weight at the very least.

Lies. I guess I'm the only one who puts the cover back on after everyone else pulls it off...

Ah well, replaced the wheel so I won't have those problems anymore

Always been at a loss when it comes to springs. Brands seem vary in quality from model to model. I will be monitoring your findings.

Springs need appropriate dampers and bump stops. The car may be soft from the factory, but it still handles quite well. Lowering springs on the OE struts and bump stops will probably result in a jittery ride as the dampers won't be able to control the spring's energy and the car will be harder into the bump stops.

IMO, better to do it right. Consider your use cases for the car -- if you just want a less body roll and a 'sportier' feel a set of (slightly) stiffer anti roll bars might be enough.

If you do want to go further, you're going to be replacing springs, dampers and bump stops. You might be able to score some decent second hand struts; otherwise it's going to cost $1k-2k depending on what you get. 'Custom' valved Bilsteins from Racelign (Furai and Snapfrozen have this sort of setup), importing a Flyin Miata suspension kit (~$1700 landed including sway bars?), etc. are probably still cheaper than certing the cheapest new adjustable coilevers you could buy.

Jesus. So it really isn't as easy as dumping in new springs?

Not 100% true, I have two Mx5,s. One with aftermarket springs and one with adjustables. Both handle very well and better than standard.

Just ask around about what people have used. And good bump stops don't cost that much

My water injection kit arrived on Friday and I fitted it over the weekend. Also bought back a bigger crank pully from the states and that has been fiited also.

Off to the dyno next week to get everything sorted and then I will report back on it. Don't want to put my foot into it until it is tuned correctly.

I cant wait.

I just chucked a fresh set of KYB shocks and King spring lows in mine and it feels pretty good. I'm sure it's not going to handle as well as some cars out there but it's heaps better than the 20 year old suspension that was in there.

I have aftermarket spring, unknown brand, and standard shocks on mine, and it's definitely better handling than standard. Going for Koni yellows as soon as I have the funds, they're good adjustable shocks with some adjustment in the height but don't need certing. They don't drop way down like adjusties can but I'm not into the bum scraping look anyway(sorry Chris, TehAshiegh et al)

I have kyb shocks (new) and dobi springs in one of my cars, also new bump stops. The lower the car well and are firm but not hard.

I would recommend them

I think they are :?: They are springs and they are yellow. Compared to the standard ones the car is much firmer but still comfortable enough for me (disclaimer; I'm use to lowered and uncomfortable cars/motorbikes so my idea of comfort may be slightly skewed). It's also sitting about 20mm lower, just enough to look nice but I can still go over speed bumps and get in to driveways.
I've also heard a few bad things about Kings but they seem to be doing the job for me. No one could actually tell me what's wrong with Kings other than "they are shit, bro". I'm sure there's better springs around but the Kings were cheap and easy to get hold of.

On the weekend of the 14-15th I will be putting the lowering springs back in the front and will do a step by step photo tutorial so you can see what is involved.

You may need to replace the bumpstops but they are relatively cheap.

what arrived for my roadster? some spring compressors from the UK
