Went drifting yesterday with the new radiator, no signs of overheating which is awesome even with 30mins of straight drifting.
Only minor problem was the alternator adjuster coming off after the first session but managed to fix that and do another 3 sessions.
Oh and my wingmirror glass fell out in the 2nd session lol.
Had put some giant googly eyes on the car purely for comedic purposes.

And got a vid of the 3rd session

Went to another drift day, same one as Daniel. Was waaaay to hot, I cooked four tyres before 1Pm and they were well cooked belts everywhere.
So I didnt get as much practice but was still good fun. Figured out I need more grip so I can throw in harder, getting anywhere between 110-135K entries which are great fun but just not enough grip to hold speed.
Found some free power

Got a little video too

Another day this Saturday at Hampton if anyones keen come down and watch or have some rides!(I think its a $5 charge to sign in as a passenger though?)

That sucks. I just got mine back from the panelbeater yesterday, with a replacement door.
How the feck does a 'professional' think that this is acceptable?
TWO dents in the new door
Mismatched paint (Ok, classic red is hard to match)
Dust in the finish
Orange peel - looks like Stevie Wonder did it with rattle cans
Muntered door card
Red overspray on door seals

Did you accept the car or leave it there and tell him to do professional job of reinstatement? Did you call insurance assessor also?NicF wrote:That sucks. I just got mine back from the panelbeater yesterday, with a replacement door.

They should be able to match the paint pretty well if they do a reasonable amount of it. Its tricky when doing small quantities as a the smaller portions of tint are near impossable to weigh in. The painter should be able to do it by eye if his has a good sample to work with. A whole car is a reasonable sample.

He dropped the car off at my house while i was at work. Not an insurance job, he was paid by the guy that backed into me. I phoned him up as soon as I'd inspected the job, we're discussing it next week.
I guess that's what I get for trying to support local business.

Update #624 on James's MX5 hunt:
Checked out two today. One is owned by this old dude and I know I'd be doing the right thing to buy it. It's been proper looked after and even resprayed. Everything's great but no radio. Red isn't my first colour choice, but everything about the car is pretty much bang on. Also, no wobbly crank pulley!
Another (for considerably less) had a bit of a dodgy roof and some paint beginning to fade; leaky boot and a noisy clutch bearing. Drove really well though. Tight as.
God dammit someone buy my car!

go for the old mans one, a well looked after car is the best platform to start with in my honest opinion. mods are easy to do but you need something good to work with to start from. I felt the same with my car, it had a great history of care and maintenance and was in great condition which was more important than it being automatic and red (I am not really fond of red either, but hey, its not *that* bad I guess)
on a different note, I got busy with some silicon hose and relocated my filter to a better spot... It was being pushed down by the newly added strut brace and I was never very happy with its placement in the first place (too close to the exhaust for my liking)
