Exotic! Like a K200D or K20D or something?

I'm using a Nikon D600 but just won a D3200 through Nikon's Zoo Snaps competition and am considering using that as a second camera for "wild"life (mostly zoo, I suppose) shooting with the crop factored focal length. Though I don't think I'll much like it, as I started with a D3100 and absolutely hated the controls :P

I wouldn't mind trying the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 except that it's designed for crop sensor cameras, unlike the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 (which I'm not really a big fan of).

Staying on-topic, the 30mm f/1.4 would certainly be useful for taking photos of MX-5s though :P

Nice save =P

Photos of my car are exclusively from crappy phone cameras and (embarrassingly) a speed camera =[

In the email for the request for the photo I mentioned how I may as well take home a souvenir after paying the fine.

Today's hard work :)

AN UPDATE WITH PICTURES!

Have had a productive day. Went to bootcamp this morning. Won a crossfit challenge for my team and avoided 100 burpees. Winner didn't have to do them... Sat down... Threw up all over the floor of the gym. Been hiffing all day so assume its a stomach bug. No work means car time (Cos who cares about puking on the driveway?)

Got the exhaust on, it's nothing to write home about as far as looks compared to stock but it sounds SO much better and seems to fill a gap. Also - it's about the right size for gains for an NA B6 so thats a bonus. Plus the rear section is 2 piece so I can make the exhaust tip for the track to fit over my diffuser without having to remake the entire exhaust.

Big ups to Matt for the exhaust (L)

Here's comparing them off the car..

Tiny bit raspy from 2-3k. I think I came the first time I did a 6k rpm shift, got a tiny pop and a crackle and kept going

Nice one Snapfrozen :)

Today I got to drive my car turbocharged for the first time, what a blast! Although this pissing down weather and $#%! tires made for a slippery drive around the block!

Crap quality video of it running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHLIyP1 ... ata_player

Thank you Mark and Paul, without your help this wouldn't have happened!

I've started cleaning up the spare engine parts properly.. Still undecided what I'm going to do exhaust wise. I have a spare manifold and I was originally going to build a 2.5" system but now that Matt has kindly IOU'd me his old exhaust I think I may scrap that idea for now seeing as money is scarce. I literally haven't spent a cent on the car in close to 6 months now.. Fortunately I SHOULD have a payrise and bonus coming through soon which should land me some cash..

Anyhow, pics!

Before cleaning with dremel, also removed some casting marks..

I want the engine as ready as can be so when summer rolls around, I can dump the old engine out, clean/paint bay and subframe, and then throw the new engine in with only a week or so of downtime.. Also plan on painting the bay gunmetal of some sort - possibly a similar colour to Joule's engine related parts and the valve cover going a pearl/candy blood red like this

Dremmel work

Post by GRUVBB » Sat Aug 31, 2013 6:01 pm

Good work with the Dremmel. Those parts have come up a treat. How many hours of buzzing did you have to endure for that result? Its all worth it now that its done. Good on ya.

I like the finish, what kind of paint did you use?

Used about 5 different things...

Rough sanding disk to get rid of the bad casting marks, then a smooth sanding disk to smooth it out. Used a metal spinning file kind of tool on it to get in the tight gaps and then a wire wheel to polish up the bits like the faces that bolt to block, throttle body etc.

The paint is just vht high temp alloy, black and primed with vht high temp primer. Figure the engine areas may see a few hundred degrees in places once turbo so no harm doing it now.
