Oil pump
This is the one i got from either super cheap or repco. It only cost about $6. It attaches onto the fluid bottle. Did my diff and gearbox with it. Paid for itself instantly by removing access aggrevation. I even went to buy a motorbike recently and it had no gas in its tank as it had been sitting for some time. No Probs. got the pump out of the boot as i had only just purchased it in preperation of doing fluid changes. Used it to pump some fresh fuel out of sellers boat. Worked a treat. Seller was off to buy one next day. At that price you cant go wrong. [/b]

Yea I believe it was from supercheap.
The first time I did a diff oil change, I did it using a garden hose running out the wheel arch, was all sorts of messy and painful, these things make it heaps easier.
Next track day im wanting to do will be hamptons, hopefully will happen in the next couple months.

Oil pump
Im not sure if my one needs to be sealed onto a bottle. Ill try adding some flex piping to it and see if it will suck in static pressure.
Another option to drain oil is toinsert a bent pipe into bottom of diff housing and then pressurise cavity with air compressor. The pressure will force the oil out via your bent tube

Ive booked in my next track day.
Going down to Taupo next saturday (5th) for the CJC Jerkfest on track 3.
I was looking for a drift day on and couldnt find anything, paid for this one, then all these other days came up that I should have done
So anyway, will be good to finally drive again, second time this year, haha.
Also saw that the MX5 Club annual track day is on the same day on the other half of taupo track, dont know if anyone from here will be down at that?
So yea cars pretty much ready to go, tidied up a few bits, and just running a spanner over/under the car to check all is go.

So went to Taupo last saturday.
loaded car up on friday night, got everything ready to go for early saturday morning.
got up early, drove down, got to track. went to unload car from trailer, and no go.
My battery is wrecked, if I dont leave it on charge it wont start.
Anyway, it had about 11v so i thought I would try start it, it cranked over, but would not fire.
In the process of this I flooded the crap out of it, so had to end up tow starting it.
First time I have ever had an issue with this car, was a bit gutted.
Anyway, wasnt too much later that I got a chance to get out on the track.
this was my first day driving with the locked diff in, so took it a bit easy in the morning just incase it was massively different, didnt take long to get back into the swing of things.
car ran without issue all day, dont feel my driving was amazingly consistant, but managed to get around the track.
went wide on the last corner of the drift section on one lap, as I was trying to slow up for a car ahead, smacked the left rear into one of the truck tires on the side of the track. ripped the bumper off but didnt do any other damage.
Also went off on the entry once, went backwards over a tire which ripped the bumper off again. no other damage.
The plastic rear bumper is bulletproof though, still looks as good as new.
Used my 6 new tires up, lasted well considering it was such a hot/dry day.
I did have my camera in the car for three sessions, I will upload the vids as soon as I sort through the footage and edit out the boring half of the lap.
Heres some pics people got.

A little bit different to get used to, if you let the rear grip up you get a bit of push understeer, but kicks out more aggressively on a clutch kick, and will hold a slide when throttle off quite a bit longer.
Definitely think it was a good move for this car, should be even better when I buy some quality front tires.

Hope you don't drive like my nana. She's completely insane when behind the wheel and then blames other people when things go badMrGrey wrote:I love seeing pics like this, but it just underlines the fact that I drive like a nana

Finally got my videos up.
Have 3 sessions ive put up, i always leave the camera recording when i get back to the pits so i used up my memory card real quick.
Ive included all of the laps in these vids, so theyre quite long/boring, but i like to watch myself to see what i did wrong etc, haha.
Also youtube wrecks my footage quality, haha.

The lock diff looks a little more twitchy?
Looking awesome in the 3rd video! You need to come drifting more often!
What gear ratios are you using diff wise? Seems to be at limiter straight away and you have to use the handbrake heaps to slow down, did you try third(or it might be forth for you?)or does it just bog down/get scary(3rd is scary for me Haha)
