Whats a PPF?
Excuse my ignorance but what is a PPF?... You dont know till ya do know so I thought I would ask the question. Cheers
So...back in the day cars had a separate chassis with any coachwork placed on top. You could literally drive a car with out needing the body. Now days cars are moncoque meaning that the body IS the chassis. The mx5 is kind of a mix between the two- a ppf which acts almost as a separate chassis and the body on top. Really though, its just a way to concentrate the torsional forces generated by the engine and drive train so that twisting moments don't affect suspension and steering geometry.
Mazda didn't come up with it but I can't remember who did....maybe lotus?
(grr phone is being a bitch, I can't edit to quote what I want to say)
