Good Certifier in Wellington?

Post by authentic » Wed Dec 19, 2012 5:19 pm

I'm looking to get mine certed soon for coilovers and new wheels+tires, but the tires that I'm keen to put on are rated for up to a 7.5" wide rim, and I'm planning on getting an 8" wide rim. Will that be a problem for certing regardless of the person, or would a more lenient certifier allow it? I've been told that 'as long as the tread is inside the guards and the wheel to tyre ratio is correct it wont be a problem.' But obviously I can't be sure of that.

Specs would be 15x8 195/45 and most 195/45 tires are rated for up to 7.5", so I havent chosen the brand of tire yet. Cheers

The Rota Grid-V auction? That was probably me asking the questions haha. I searched that tire but the sites say that the max width is 7.5", but they claim its 8" and can email me the spec sheet so when I see it ill believe it.

Have you always been in wellington? didnt know we had any other guys round here!

yeah legal 195's for 8's are Falken ZE912's.

I've added the spec sheet for reference if anyone else was interested. That is the only tyre approved by LVVTA for 'stretching' so far.

As far as a good certifier in wellington. Most people recommend Julian Cheer in Carterton, however, i'm personally gonna use Ken McAdam in lower hutt for mine, as its far more convenient than heading to carterton.

I actually live in Masterton, but the certifier list only listed Wellington and the Hutt as locations. Carterton would be perfect for me, thats only a 15 minute drive :D .

And be moving to Wellington next year, so you may see me around then. Hopefully theres a few more Wellington people about, so we could get a small meet happening in the near future..

I was organising semi large meets back in the day in wellington before dickheads in skylines started showing up. Pity you didn't come along back then! When my car is legal, we shall organise a punt over the hill. Boys are always keen for a rimutakas run on a nice day, andi think we'll have our annual BBQ in the hutt this year again, so you should pop over the hill for it mate!

Back on topic, have a look for Julian cheer on the crtifier list. Think he runs 'cheers automotive' or something. Good bloke.
