What'd you do to your car this week/weekend?

I took the advice of the masses (you all) and slapped a 320mm steering wheel on. I can now get my hand past my leg - nice change. I can't see much more than the bottom of the gauges but I can handle that for now. Good advice.
Today I grabbed some axle stands to get some space to get at my engine mounts and thought I would look to where a small water leak was coming from, turns out it wasn't my thermostat housing like I hoped. Water fucking pump. Back to BNT and appco on moanday.
My car is looking pretty sad, front end needs painted, mounts need doing, rear tyres are getting low and I can see brakes coming soon.
Still it was nice to outside and not working.

well yesterday i got all keen and steam cleaned the underside of the car. removed the wheels and went over all the suspension with a scotchbrite pad and then painted it all with black zinc it paint. 2 cans later all my suspension and subframes are looking pretty slick. Thatll keep mr warrant man off my back. Picked up my new rear rotors and pads. and some oil and a couple of filters.
good news is that my subaru like lifter tick has gone.
oh the 2 rear rotors+el cheapo rear pads and 2 oil fllters was 140 bucks.

TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers.
Cambelt, crankshaft seal, water pump and rocker cover gasket.
Had a mate help (do most of it), lucky too as the crank bolt was crazy tight. I was in the car foot on the brake in gear while he was hanging off an extension on a strong arm. I have a lose nose crank though, handy to know.
The job ended up being simple (my first cambelt) but time consuming. Good way to hang out and spin a few yarns though. 210km drive home and she is all good.....

I personally wouldnt bother with a megasquirt. There's no point cheaping out on an ECU when you've spent billlions of dollars on s/c, turbos or ITB's. Nobody seems to get the same gains from megasquirts compared to something like a link or anything else that would actually be tuned by a pro. That'd be my plan if I was needing an ECU anytime soon.

First person I've heard who said not to buy a megasquirt (mind you I think all the people on miata turbo are a bunch of ********* and I only end up there for the classifieds). Glad I didn't get a MSBwarp wrote:I personally wouldnt bother with a megasquirt. There's no point cheaping out on an ECU when you've spent billlions of dollars on s/c, turbos or ITB's. From what I can read they run ITB's sweet!

The link is only tuned by a pro because most tuners in NZ only work with linkBwarp wrote:I personally wouldnt bother with a megasquirt. If there was someone well known that can tune a MS in NZ this would not be true the latest MS is only slightly less expensive than the link and just because its cheaper by a couple hundy doesnt mean its crap
If you look at all the miatas running high power overseas they all use MS they cant all be wrong
