If you have undone one of the pivot bolts for the suspension arms, it is best just to nip up the bolts/nuts, lower the car and drive it round the block and then, while it is still on the ground, torque up the pivot bolts.
If you can't get at the bolts to torque them, put the jack under the bottom arm and drop the wheel off. Be careful when you do this as the car will not be on axle stands.
The bushes need to have settled and be under load when the final torque is applied to the pivots.
I haven't heard of it being necessary for the top hat.

TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers.
Lowering springs will take a couple of weeks to settle to their actual height if you buy them brand new.
Also - MX5's vary in height depending on production year and spec etc, so from what I gather its fairly hard to gauge an actual drop when buying lowering springs.
It's better for them to give you a final hub to fender height rather than a total amount of drop.

Rates look real low on those, Not much above standard. Yours looks more like the 29/19 drop which is stiffer than stock. How does it feel?

It was enough to warrant a different chassis number. You'll probably have better results with parts for an NA6C would be my guesssiren676 wrote:NA6C, thought there wasnt any difference aside from slightly more weight at the front from the engine

Pretty sure OE means Original Equipment from the manufacturer of the car... My Cuscos are height adjustable, but I still need cert..? By that logic, perch adjustable bilsteins should be certed too. Whether people are going to look or not, (or whether you're just not gonna get cert) they still technically require a cert... right?Furai wrote:Because like Konis they are OE Height adjustable?Bwarp wrote:I'm not sure how you are avoiding cert with this.
That's what the cert threshold guide says - they are height adjustable, whether its circlip, sleeve or spring perch.......
The thing is no one looks at it, you cant really tell and as long as I dont go under 100mm no one will look.(Not that I plan to)

It is a rather general statement, The height cant be adjusted unless you fully rebuild the shock(Take of spring and pull out of car to move seat) which is the same with springs, springs make the car height adjustable but changing them but that is allowed?
Maybe its stated as height adjustable from factory(The shocks) which Bilsteins arent?

Yeah good point, im starting to consider just getting a refund on the current springs and going for some coilovers insteadBwarp wrote:It was enough to warrant a different chassis number. wait, aren't the adjusters a step where the bottom spring perch sits on the outer shock body? isn't that what adjusts height? didnt think it was an internals thing. sounds fairly extreme, and would end up that the springs are super super compressed at the lowest setting?Furai wrote:

Got a diagram of how they're adjusted?
