There are some class cupcakes out there (took a while to find anything though). Yeah I should probably do something more worthwhile with my time I guesFurai wrote:Yeah guys, you can get a point across without swearing. Makes you classy as a cupcake too.

Anyhow, this weekend I plan to start putting in my car parts seeing as they've finally arrived.

Spent last friday removing the aftermarket extractors to get them welded after they had cracked around each exhaust port- I also had an exhaust rattle at around 2800 rpm.
Turns out the two were related- The support bracket attached to bell housing had broken and the subsequent twisting was causing the stress cracking.
So, got it all welded back up and it's good to go. I took the headers off myself to 'save money'....ended up buying a couple of hundred dollars worth of tools etc to get it done (including a nice torque wrench!)

Glad to help!Bwarp wrote:Managed to swap 1x adjustable shock over last night with some help via the interwebs from Mr.Shine.
Undoing the upper arm bolt and pulling it out is the key to success!
I had issues installing mine, but managed after great effort to get it free. Think the majority of the time I spent installing my suspension was working on the driver's side upper arm long boltAngreal wrote:That was the bit I couldn't manage, no matter how many attempts I gave it.

On the topic of suspension, I'll need to get my brakes and FI certed and was wondering if I could borrow some adjustables for a day/weekend from anyone to get certed at the same time?
I'll get adjusties some day, just not today (plus I want Ohlins and they're very very very very very difficult to justify) and figure 2 birds one stone...

1) Shipping/bidding/getting them here? How do I do it?
2) These Ohlins any good? There any difference to the American Ohlins? These the same brand of Ohlins that come on motorbikes?

I have a set of Tien adjustables if you want to borrow them. I'd rather someone bought them but drop me a PM if you want to borrow.Angreal wrote:On the topic of suspension, I'll need to get my brakes and FI certed and was wondering if I could borrow some adjustables for a day/weekend from anyone to get certed at the same time?I'll get adjusties some day, just not today (plus I want Ohlins and they're very very very very very difficult to justify) and figure 2 birds one stone...
Agreed. Best to get as many mods as you can certed at the same time.

To get them contact Hayatonka, They organize everything. Give you quote and then you decide on bid price and so on.Angreal wrote:Gah and I just spent so much money on the last shipment/supercharger setup! All Ohlins are the same Manufacture from Sweden but they have a couple different grades of Ohlins for Roadsters you can find on the OHlins site.
Yup. Exactly right. If you get certed for adjusties. You shouldnt be given a wof if you put standard stuff back in.Mr. Shine wrote:Question I had pop into my head the other day, if your car is certified with say adjustable suspension, presumably it's then not strictly speaking road legal to go back to factory suspension now that it's been certified in the adjustable suspension state?

They are Tein HRs. I had them checked by Autolign who pronounced them as "OK". The only issue is adjusting rings are incredibly tight and I haven't been able to move them. Someone like Autolign may be able to shift them with the right tools.Kieran wrote:What type of teins and how much you want for them?
I have never really used them. I swapped them for a set of standard suspension as they were too hard for the previous owner.
I'ld be happy with $500.

Given the camber requirement changes to the certification process this is sensible, as you'd almost certainly be required to also borrow adjustable suspension arms to correct the natural camber from lowering with the adjustables.Angreal wrote:Hmmm as much as I like those Ohlins, I think I'll save and get some new ones that come with a warranty and DFV and get things re-certed at a later date.
