I've got a 4.3:1 torsen available. IIRC I didn't use it cos it wasnt a turbo-friendly ratio.

If you want one of these, I have a new Mazdaspeed one of these sitting on my shelf, yours for $800
I'm interested. So it's a Mazdaspeed LSD with this OS Giken LSD stuck inside it? Also, other than being more awesome in some form or another, how does the Mazdaspeed one differ from a torsen type 1?
Its not more awesome in some form its a whole new level of awesome
Clutch pack LSDs will lock both wheels when the torque from the driveshaft turns the diff the clutch stacks in the diff compress together locking the wheels as the engine applies more torque the clutches grip harder
A 2 way clutch type LSD will have the same limit of torque to lock the wheels under acceleration and decceleration
Whereas a Torson is a torque sensing diff that will lock with enough torque but the problem with these is the mx5 torson is a 1.5Way so the transition between on/off throttle is brutal
The torson is good but 2Ways are awesome

If you can be bothered un wrapping it, I might be able to decode the part number stamped on the ring gear.

I must admit that LSD would be amazing, only 2 things that put me off are the price and clutch plates.
Having a VLSD and having driven 1.5 way LSD equipped cars I would prefer a 2 way or 1.5 but the main reason behind going to the 1.8 diff is the stronger/larger ring gear(LSD being a bonus).

So I guess potentially I could swap my 1.8 for Furai's 1.6 and then put this LSD into my one?
Are there any complications with this new theory that I should be aware of such as a 1.6 doesn't straight swap into a 1.8? Or that I should just stick with a 1.8 for one reason or another? I think diffs are one of those things I just can't get my head around

I would be happy to swap out my 1.6 Viscous and housing for yours.
Only disadvantage you would have is weaker half shafts and ring/pinion gear but thats nothing. Swap on next Sunday?

$400 seems a bit much considering you would still need to find Driveshaft and halfshafts.
Ewan quoted me about $500 for the whole set shipped in his next container.
