Sounds like buying a house. I like it but... It's perfect except...

I like the styling of the car but don't like the convertible top. The soft top is what makes it feminine-looking in my opinion, which is why I like running hardcore hardtop (I've got the sticker to prove it :P). I think I may be more open to running topless (or possibly with a Project G G-string Bikini Top) once I get a rollbar in to keep the tougher look :)

I like the soft top because if it rains and you're in the middle of nowhere, at least you still have a roof for the car

Buying an MX5, then hiding the soft top because it looks feminine, is like wearing womens undies under your jeans. We all know the truth :D

Logic works if you're hiding it under a hard top, but not if you're not even wearing a soft top :P

my main thing is not having to look like a greased pig covered in sun screen. I've had a Fraser Clubman, I used to have dark brown thighs and pasty calves. I find on a hot day its cooler to have top up and windows open.

Haha well it just so happens I do! Me and my friend spent quite a while trying to figure it out on his GTR.

If it's the base your stuck on, it's just push in clips, so pull it upwards. Let me know where your stuck.

well i tried just pulling up on the front edge of the seat without luck. the car has full leather interior so i am hesitant to go near it with tools. doe the edge just pull up or is there something else i should be doing?

trying to install an amp and sub and other assorted bits into the car and what a pain in the ass it is. now i know why i hate skylines.

If the Skyline is like others I've seen, you have to push in at the base of the squab and then pull up as mentioned above. there is normally a clip on each side.

Ha, got the seat off yet? WHat do you need from the wiring diagram? I might be able scan some pages of that for you too.

i need a constant 12V and ACC in the back somewhere. maybe off the "active speaker amp" or maybe even the hicas or atessa feeds? also eed a good place to immobilise the car (probably the fuel pump circuit?) any wiring diag or colour info would be great

Yeah that active amp would probably be a good place, does the HICAS even have a power feed at the back? I thought it was all on fluid pressure.

I'll see if my mate found his full workshop manual he had, massive ring binder of info including wiring diagrams.

If its dry next time i'll get you in my car to show me how its done. Beaten by 3 seconds by a car with no chassis mods and broken shocks is embarrassing especially when its also asmaller engine  ah well, fastest in the wet so I can't complain. Also helps that all the skylines after me spun out  and that I managed to beat plenty of cars with tons more power (can you say skyline or Silvia? )

You were doing pretty well considering it was pretty much your first time. Dont forget I had done that course and about 6 or 7 other Gymkhanas...

I am keen to have a go in your car though if you say so

Yeah its great to beat all the cars people boast about all the time even if the Roadster was pretty much designed for Gymkhana 8)

Finally started work on dads car this weekend.

Stripped the interior, fixed up a bit of rust, chucked in some sound deadening and gave rattle cans a go..

Looks tidier!
