Thanks for that. Whats with MX-5's being stupidly expensive for 20 year old cars?

You just have to look for a good deal or make an offer Ive been watching some on trademe for about 6 months so if you make a reasonable offer they will probably take it
be quick price will go up closer to summer

Do you have a budget price I can point you at some nice ones ive been looking at

Also dont be afraid of high kms if the body is good and has been garaged then take it the 1.6 motors are cheap!

Plus they have gone up in value recently... becoming a more popular car :)

3k seems cheap for a BRG model, i guess it has what most people would consider high k's.
Gotta keep an eye out like others have said, i picked up mine for 2.5 with a hardtop, and all the boy racer goodies like a fart cannon, and chromies :? only downside is the tail lights and indicators dont work ..

Price of them could potentially increase even soon with the MX5 racing series with Motorsport Manawatu gaining popularity.

Also all the stainswork/hellaflesh bs. Cheap rwd cars that I can chuck sportmaxes on scrape chassis rails everywhere. Its a bit like R32 skylines. DRIFT TAX.

I just hope flatpeak society doesnt take hold of the roadster and ruin it like they did to silvias and skylines....

Amen I could never bring myself to buy a skyline or silvia now due to that exact reason

I've seen a few douchebags cruising around in them in the city when I'm at Uni. They are catching on. All the KP Starlets and old Corollas etc, all the RWD cars are gone. MX5s are the only RWD left.

Also yea with that new MX5 class I bet they are gonna go up in price. I actually have a spare MX5 which I'll sell when they gain popularity as a race car. (Its not good enough to get road legal so Ill hold onto it till then)

will do! picking it up from my dads soon, hes trying his hand at the tail lights haha :p

flatpeakers have already started with the 5 imo, first example is the "miatasaurus", although it does see some tracktime it spends most of its time scraping and getting over speedbumps.

After something that has a straight body, prefer stock with good condition paint. Prefer black/white but will take red if the price is right. Want a maintained stock engine, don't care about km's. I really just want a straight car to start working from. Prefer stock exhaust/wheels as have like 43843843 wheels in the garage and can fab an exhaust myself

In better news my new wheel nuts arrived so I can finally fit my 15‘s :D
I can let you borrow my battery reviver thing and it might bring your battery back to life if you find it's dead. Just leave it for a few days plugged into the wall and it might bring it back to life.
Cheers for the offer dude, i jump started it tonight and it seems to be fine, will test it tomorrow to see if its still good after 12 or so hours.

Half black interior should have been done from factory in those cars. Door cards are maximum hotness too. Game on.

I started shaving the little raised numbers off all my reflectors and tail lights. Looks heaps tidier. More than I thought it would.

haha not sure about those door cards james .. i think the colour is throwing me off, if they were a matching green to your car that would be sweet!

Anyways, i fixed the tail lights/indicators/horn on my mx5 last night, all went well, the fusebox terminals were corroded as hell. hoo rah.

The very early ones can have a problem with the keyway on the crank nose/front pulley flogging out. (End of 1991 and later you will be fine).
Rust under the door sill plates (If it has any).
Rear callipers seizing.

Thats about it really besides checking the condition of the oil and water and usual checks etc when buying a second hand car.

It most certainly is not! There are no massif or edaboc stickers anywhere on this car. I've probably got just about everything else though, haha.

And the door cards aren't about matching the outside of the car, actually they're not about matching anything, I just put them on there cos for some reason, they amuse the crap out of me.

I quite like the Amuse S2000 from Gran Turismo... No idea how this thought/comment came about but that's what I thought when I read your comment. I think work is making me lose it
