I'm what you might call a car guy. I always have been and I can't imagine changing.

I bought my MX about about a year ago. It was then that I started reading this forum. I've stalked the classifieds and considered buying plenty (Keith's gear mainly).
Note considered, but I'll get to what I've done soon.

I bought the car off a friend who bought it locally off a guy that seemed legit. My friend bought it remotely (mining in Aus) when he got to know the car he was bitterly disappointed. The PO either lied or had no idea (he owes or owned an Evo rally car so I doubt the latter). My friend went on to buy an NZ new ne with 90km on the clock and I got this one at a good price.

Mine (Blaster - my first car not called The Flying Fist of Judas) is pretty close to stock. It has some stiff after market springs (unknown brand) and a nicely laid out set of headers. I've added a set of semi sealed headlights with H4s and replaced changed the diff and gearbox oil to red line.

I work in Invercargill and live in Dunedin, making the trip weekly. Being a car guy I consider this a perk of the job. In the 2.5 years I've done it I have never not enjoyed the drive. I've done it in many cars, last most noteworthy was a Fiat 124 Sport (CC model) which was actually amazing. As they do, it gave me grief and after my third break down on a back road, I made they change to Blaster.

I'm rambling a bit so to cut short, I joined today to get some answers on some other threads. I thought I'd introduce myself at the same time.

Probably the most interesting thing you may find out about ne is that I am 2m tall and 105kg. Yes, I've almost stripped all the foam from the seat as well as removed a lot of the interior to be able to see and close the door. Its a laugh but still the best car I've driven through the back roads. I've toyed with driving with no seat at all (feels great parked, but I can't imagine it staying that way for 2hrs the way I drive).

I'll let you guys ask otherwise, I'll lurk around as long as I have Blaster (I change cars around every 18 months).

Regards,
Tim.

Good to see another tall person in one of these great machines, Im 18 and 195cm so not quite your height or build(Im pretty skinny) but I found a spacer on the wheel helps alot.

You might want to have a look into Elise seats or buckets though.

Yeah, I have been looking for a better option for seats. For right now, I'm happy. I never thought to space the wheel out. How did you go about it?

Spacer works if you have a wheel that adapts with a bosskit, I went for a 20mm. Some come with the longer bolts some dont. Check out Moonlight Racing (MLracing.co.nz I think) they have some HKB ones.

You could also fit a quick release to your steering wheel they will add up to 60-odd mm plus be a theft deterent.

i had a BC 124 coupe (actually i had 3) until i saw the light and bought something reliable.

you could try a flat bottom sportline wheel. it may give you a bit more room

Line of sight is my biggest problem. I've removed the sun visor but still have to bend my neck to see. I've been reading about seat options but haven't settled on what is best.

Im 6'3 and about 103kg, i just did the "foamectomy"mod to the drivers seat. Sit a lot lower, def a improvement. Looks like the steering coloum could be modified to be about 10mm higher with a bit of work.

Im debating removing the drivers side sunshade, it is in the way a bit.

Ive also removed the drivers side door handle and put a strap on, lots more room, but i do find i dont have anywhere to rest my elbow, aparently there is a earlier mazda 323 with a handle that doesnt have the front part of the the handle going up that gets in the way, but still lines up with the other 2 holes.

I removed the door handle too, gave a fair bit more room for my knee. What did you do for the strap?

I used a piece of 25mm webbing and just screwed it onto holes with suitable screws. worked fine but looked huckory, and was odd not having a arm rest. Got a 323 one from pickapart, think it was off a rear door, lined up with lower 2 holes perfect and looks the part.

Do you think the otherside's arm rest is still there? :)

Was prob 4 there, think front and rear are the same, only reason i got a rear one is it was already sitting on rear seat as someone had taken door trim off.
