I have read fitting extractors and not upgrading to a heated 02 sensor causes all sorts of crappy running issues.
Is this correct and are there any other issues that need to be taken into consideration ?
Also, where is the best place to get a heated O2 sensor ?
Thanks

yes it is correct.
Oxygen sensors work best when they are at the correct tip temperature. on an mx5 the standard location is about 30cm from the head.
when you fit extractors, often they are relocated to about a meter away from the head. by this time the exhaust gas temp is too cold ESPECIALLY at idle. when they are too cold...they dont work. simple.
a heated sensor can be put anywhere as the probe is kept hot by the inbuilt heater.
you can get a generic 3 or 4 wire heated o2 sensor from any of the parts places or even off trade me. i got mine from pick a part off a honda.
they are easy to spot. just look on the exhaust headers somewhere and youll see a thing that looks like a spark plug. they either have one wire coming off them(non heated) or 3 or 4 wires (heated)
stay away from nissan ones as they can be different voltages.
