13B Turbo MX5
Hi everyone, my name is Jonathan and I'm thinking about jumping into an MX5
I've been looking at this one on Trademe, test drove it and it drives like a beauty.
I can't post the TM link but here's the specs. It's the red one on TM asking price $5900 in Auckland
13B turbo from series 4 FC
Motor is pretty much stock
Series 5 LSD and axels
FMIC
Front mount oil cooler
Custom/modified running gear
Micro tech ECU
Car is certed
Rego is on hold
Does anyone know anything about this specific car?
I need to get the car checked out by a rotary specialist, I was thinking RX7 Heaven but anyone know a mobile specialist? Car doesn't have a current wof and rego is on hold so I'm hesitant to drive it to inspection.

I have had lots of series II and series III RX7's and have always used RX7 heaven even thou they are the opposite end of Auckland from me and always did a good job.
As for the comment about second hand rotories, they are no worse than any other old motor, if they have been looked after then they purr like a kitten.
But yes, get the engine checked out by a rotary specialist to be on the safe side.
Check the cert papers to make sure everything is all covered.

compared to a 300zx even a rotary is cheap to maintain!Zara wrote:Thanks guys. Apparently the motor came from Japan in 2000 and it was rebuilt when it arrived in NZ, along with a new turbo. I will ask for receipts as he said he has some.
I'm not new to performance cars (Had 2 300ZX TT) but rotaries are a new thing to me
Anyone here own a rotary mx5?
