rear window separation

Post by Ben.Nakagawa » Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:46 am

I just find this morning...
The left bottom corner of my rear window where heat sealed from outside has separated. Actually like clean cut about 2 inch where inner seal is.

Yes, it's not OEM but relatively new - couple of years since fitted.

I've taped to avoid leak as sky is turned into gray.

What is the best option to fix this? may be clear gaffer tape like material? Any good plastic glue anyone can recommend?

Thanks,
Ben

Sounds like a trip to the upholsterer-they usually have the right glue!

I recently had a repair to a small cut in my soft top from a franchise operator for Fibrenew great service and reasonable price at $70. Don't know if there are any in your area try calling Fibrenew 0800 937 372

I recently had a tear in my rear screen and used a product called "bodyskins" to repair it. Bodyskins is a clear self adhesive sheet primarily used to protect panels from stone chips. It is very clear and almost invisible on the screen. I had some left over from another job. Got it from Supercheap.

Thanks Guys!

I'll have a look up for 'Fibrenew".

"bodyskins" sound promising. It's a very corner of the window so I may sandwich from both side. I was thinking to sew with fine fishing line and put some glue in but using plastic sheet may be better.

The Fibrenew guys are here as well covering a large area include west coast. I may call them hen I decided to fix dashboard.

I bought variation of "bodyskins" that is for motorcycle headlight, because the body one was out of stock. Not sure what is the difference may be thickness?

I did cut small strip for corner and attached there. 10 min job include creating template. I did it for both side just for looks.

Thanks fro all your help and suggestions.
