Wish I could've made this one, but I spent late afternoon/early evening replacing my brake discs and pads, and haven't had a chance to check and bed everything in yet... definitely next time :)

GREAT DRIVE!!!!

Awesome fun. Thanks guys, been dying for a decent fang on the road since we got the car.

Sorry I had to bail on the beverage afterwards, I didn't realise the time and thought better to keep the missus on side...

Have to do it again, maybe find a different route perhaps....not that that one wasn't superb.... State Highway 16 to warkworth and back....is kinda fun....also the road out to Piha is kinda fun too....

DId you guys go up to Titirangi Village? I'm pretty sure I drove past you guys (not in my mx5) as I headed to the shore. I'll have to join you guys next time.

Yeah we passed through Titirangi. I must say that was the most spectacular drive I've had in my car yet!! Nice to meet you all as well, awesome bunch of people on these forums! Great chatting to Mike at the pub, and KJ, I hope you didn't get into too much trouble afterwards :P

Hopefully I'll have my brakes done by next time, doesn't take much to boil them at the moment. One good stomp on the pedal from 50 and you can smell them..

So I kind of lied

Ended up managing perfect timing and catching everyone at Titirangi village (maybe I went past you twice Angreal, before and after I found the others :P) as they passed through. Was great to meet everyone and put some usernames to faces, as well as their actual names. Great chat in the pub afterwards, very keen for next time!

EDIT:

Best part of the night for me was AFTER the cruise, joining the motorway south from Albany. Subaru Legacy decides it's a good idea to tailgate me coming up to the roundabout turning right onto the motorway onramp, only to find that he can't turn corners like an MX-5 and got left the fuck behind. Couldn't catch me on the onramp straightaway as I'd held that much more speed through the roundabout

What a blast that was, I always forget how much fun that road out to Bethells Beach is.

I propose we make this a regular monthly meet.

we need a meet/trips/tours/events section on the forum.

Once the MIL and Xmas is out of the way, I'm dead keen.

Yeah Zac and I were talking about it over the past 24 hours. Especially over the summer months! Thought the drive to Miranda is good, though possibly more suited to a day time event. Woodcocks road up to Warkworth is always mint, as is Old North road. Anyone have other suggestions for a night time excursion?

NOT the Puhoi tunnels. I got a hefty fine last time I went through there on a motorbike....

Oh this was when it was free for bikes so we'd use the tunnel for the sake of using it 8)

Well it was good while it lasted and until I got a ticket

Is something likely to happen this Friday? Would love to chase a few other MX5s.

I dunno if I can afford another extra tank of gas for a cruise. If the weather is fine though are people down for a bit of a meet up somewhere in Auckland at the weekend?

I think it'll be early next year before we get in another night cruise unless heaps of people are keen, but with Christmas not even 2 weeks away things might be quite busy for people.

What's everyone reckon?

Isn't that another fantastic thing about the MX5, go thrashing around roads all night, and still use bugger all gas.

On a different note, anyone entering the Cannonball Run?
