Anyone replaced the locks on an NA?

the locks on my NA are driving me crazy....
both keys barely work on all locks....

just wondering how easy/ how much to replace with new ones.

They are held on by two 10mm nuts-its a cinch once you have removed the door panelling & handles!

cool thanks...thats the easy bit.

just wondering what to do about NEW keys...do the MX's have the lock number on the back of them like some other cars?
the problem i have is the original Eunos key is worn and the spare is a copy of that one.

A good lock smith should be able to match the lock with the key & vice-versa!

Why not get an alarm? Never have to unlock your doors manually again. Or, if your ignition barrel is worn as well as the door locks, I can supply new locks and a matching new ignition barrel.

i think i'll pull out the passengers side lock and get the key code off the wafers, then get a new key made from that code. the passengers side is the worst as some low life half buggered it trying to open it with a screw driver. so it'll kill two birds with one stone...
I'll be able to repair the passengers lock and get the code off of it at the same time.

UPDATE:

I took the drivers side lock out this morning ( an easy 10 minute job) and got a new key cut by showing them the lock code . they disappeared out the back and came back with a new computer cut key in under 2 minutes...awesome.
Its a "silca" brand key with a plastic end like a normal car key and the best thing is that it's short like the original, not really long like the spare i had cut a few years ago.

the new key works great in the drivers door and ignition but not so hot in the boot lock.
oh well can't win 'em all.

so if your doing any work on your drivers door, it may be a great idea to whip out the lock and write down the key number just in case you need it one day if you loose your keys etc.

A squirt of crc or silicone spray in the lock barrels is good too. Dust and dirt buildup affects there operation.
