Help!! Rust on left hand bottom rear wheel arch

Post by fiveisalive » Tue Jun 21, 2011 1:13 am

Seems I have found some bubbling of paint on the left rear wheel arch of my
NB6C.

From what i have read on the web... it is corrosion from the inside.

Can anyone recommend a good panel beater in Auckland? and how much does it look like it would cost to get this sorted?

Hi cheers for the reply.

Judging from the pic(albeit a blurry one at that)....how far advanced do you reckon, is the corrosion?

It will be alot bigger than you think and only gets worse over time,

Basicly you will have to cut the sill open to know for sure
it happens because there are two layers of steel sandwiched together there and moisture can get between
come in and we can have a look and work something out

cheers

Wednesday next week good for you? I'll see if the boss will let me have the day off.

I also had a look at the drainage sump... and it was plenty clogged up with dirt.

So i managed to clean the rear drains out... and I found that someone had stuck three rivets into both of them!!!

Gah seems the more I look... the more rust I find.

This is a pic of the panel behind the seats.

Safe to assume because of my drainage issue, water has eaten away at the sound deadening material at the rear which has caused the rust to appear.

Looks like it's only surface rust on that rear panel to me, no biggie there.
