NA/NB 1.8L Extractors

Post by Angreal » Fri May 06, 2011 2:18 pm

My current extractors are titanium ones and I've had problems where they keep leaking and have to get re-welded at the joint to the mid-pipe. I was wondering whether the NB extractors were the same as for the NA8C since Ross has a set of those.
Also, are there any other solutions to my problem other than to continually re-weld my mid-section joint?

wade is good

an aftermakeet set of extractors will join to the mid pipe well under the car where as the factory manifold will be much shorter and join in the engine bay

its up to you weather you want to keep it or not

welding any other metal to titanium will not last as titanium becomes brittle at the joint . best thing to do would be to have a exhust shop cut out the weld and put in a slip joint and clamp .

Yeah I had Pit Stop jack my car up this morning and the titanium is splitting at all the welds... And at multiple locations along them. I think I'll just cut my losses and replace them and try sell the titanium for scrap metal if anyone knows where I could flick them off to once they're off.

I know all the 600/1000cc sports bikes have titanium exhaust systems but they also all have slip joints and are clamped together.

I'll give Wade a call. Do I just ring up Mazbits and ask for Wade?

I thought I'd follow up and just say that I ended up buying a set of really nice extractors from Mazbits and will install these. I also ended up with a whole lot more than I was planning when I had a look at the engine bay... Lets just say that when I've finished, my cars engine bay will look awesome 8)

I just need somewhere to get it all installed, and to get the extractors coated with HPC.
