THE MOTOR TRADE.

Post by globy » Sun Jun 20, 2010 4:48 pm

Interesting how in the mechanics/garage & services , of the classified there is not one listing, this does not give anyone a lot of confidence in the motor trade, having worked at a major franchise sadly this attitude is entirely valid and justified.I would of thought this would be a good site to gain new customers, i also would have thought with the large numbers of MX5s around that some one would be specialising in looking after them.In the mean time i will just do it myself, although after last time what with the damaged finger( it involved a certain sump plug) i would like to be able to take her to some one trustworthy and without having to get another mortgage.

The majority of MX5 drivers do the work themselves. There are however good Mech's and Tech's throughout NZ for the not so " sleaves rolled up" type owner.

Have you tryed YELLOW PAGES?

Be prepared to pay for the work too

Got to remember we are from all parts of the country,So a specialist would have a hard time getting plenty of customers,Just because we are into MX5's doesn't mean they are,We have a excellent MX5 specialist here in CH CH ,Rents and repairs them,But he's not into computers and not interested in Chatting on them,Word of mouth gets him enough business.
From what i understand Don at Autoways in Hamilton is another specialist, again not into forums.
Any good mechanic can work on these cars,As much as we love them they are not that special when it come to maintenance,Certainly nothing you can't find on the net to help your mechanic out if he gets stuck.
Come's down what you are into,I do some minor stuff myself ,Gave my car to a guy i know to do the flywheel/clutch job,Took him 2 hours in and out, first one he did,He checked miata.net first on my recommendation,Got the info on the PPF frame removal ,and away laughing.
