The best Way to hang/store a hard top

Post by Rachel Long » Sat Dec 26, 2009 9:17 pm

Hi there, we have just purchased another MX 5 but this time with a hard top. Am interested in finding the best and/or possibly easiest way to hang the hard top. How are people hanging their hard tops.

Thanks

Tone & Rach

Hi there,
You can get a hoist for your garage although i dont have one or as in our case we put it in a separate shed so as to not knock it when working in the garage

I just bought one of those ebay hardtop stands with cover. It works well and means the top no longer sits on the floor at home.

I made a hoist to lift the top off and on. For storage, I have a length of 50 x 50 bolted to the garage studs up by the architrave, then put 2 8 x 75mm coach bolts at the frankenstein stud spacing and hang the top up by the rear catches.
