So I checked what Wikipedia had to say about the Factory Turbo I purchased recently and found they were only made in 2004/2005 in limited numbers. 4K in the first year, and less than 2K in the last year due to a fire at the factory.
But I still had no way of knowing how many of these were sold in NZ so I contacted Mazda. To my surprise they were able to tell me that they only brought 15 into NZ, and that mine is one of them. They also said that it is likely that a few others may have come in as Japanese imports, but the numbers are likely to very small.
Anyway, I knew they were rare, but not quite this rare. I was already very happy with the purchase but now even more so!
I will endeavour to get some nice pics done and put it in the Garage section

Spend a little more and get an nc. I recall they may have more torque
than the factory turbo, as its quite tame for reliability I'd imagine.

Purely personal taste of course, but the NC styling/shape just doesn't work for me. I'm likely to skip the NC generation and hope that what comes next will apeal more...

Bit of a 'fail' for the ad though...The one thing that makes this car different to all the other Mx5's, the engine, and no photos of it......nor any description about the rarity of the car (but instead, a whole speal about how good the car yard is)

Agreed.
To be honest, it just reflects that they are simply not that knowledgeable about their own stock..
