Hi,
Having purcahsed my first MX 5 in February this year I am now intersested in finding out more about my model. I was sold this one on the understanding that there were only 450 ever made as web tune, sunburst yellow 2001 models. All the research in books and on the net seems to confirm this.
Therefore it got me wondering, where are the other 449 cars? How many others are there in NZ?

Welcome to the club and the fun of owning an MX5. You will find that none of the sunburst yellow came into NZ new. Any in the country are imports, as are about 75% of all MX5's here. Great colour, I have a 1994, 1800cc
and would only swap it for another yellow.
Cheers

i only know of your Auto and the Manual one that I owned for about 3 years. I sold it to people in Auckland who joined the MX5 club. In the time I owned it, I never saw or heard of another in NZ. A friend who imports cars and is a club member tried to buy one in Japan about 3 years ago but the auction went well above his limit.
You are right re the numbers produced. They were only sold through the Mazda website and the buyers could spec them to their requirements. Hence the "Webtune Special"

Thanks for the replies. Yes I purchased the car in ChCh.
My quest now is to surf the web, register on other forums and see how many cars like mine I can track down around to world.
