Where's the OBDII socket?

Hi,

Trying to locate the OBDII socket on my 2002 Mk2.5 JDM MX-5.
No sign of it by the fuse box or bonnet release, looked around under-dash and over passenger side.
Anyone got any ideas

I can't be 100% but I don't think Mazda were too stubborn to use the
industry wide standard. I was looking at a really cool Greddy colour
performance meter with touch screen display that works off the OBDII and was
disappointed to find out that it did not work on the MX5 as Mazda used it's
own system. Kind of like the Linux people thinking the rest of the world is
wrong.... lol.

The more I look the more I feel you may be right. Bit of a bugger really as I picked up an OBDII reader in the US last trip and was looking forward to testing it

If I do find anything I'll post it up here.

Did you find out more on this?

There are professional tools advertised that plug straight in to the 17 + 8 pin diagnostic socket under the bonnet of pre OBD II Japanese import Mazdas. They cost thousands.
I understand that diagnosics can be done by bridging contacts ( 3 + 5) in the connector, and reading pulses on pins 1(-) and 4(+).
What I'm not sure about so don't trust me on this:
The early Na models output a 2 digit code, but it seems that post 1995 Japanese Mazdas should output a 4 digit code, and those codes seem to correspond with OBD II codes.

I found some data on supposed pin designations, and suggestion that the system is ISO 9141-2, but I don't trust the information.
