i have now definitely decided to get a mx5, first generation due to the budget..
i will be shopping around for a mx5, is there anything in particular i should watch out for when buying a mx5?
i have done a bit of search in the forum and the major issues are the crank and rear calipers. anything else i should watch out for?
engine seems to be quite reliable? apart from the crank pulley issue as it seems to go over 200k mileage with no probs..

im sure you will find an mx5 very reliable probably more than most
if you can find a 1994 onwards you wont have to worry about the crank but personally i wouldnt (and didnt) worry
ther're a top car and are always looking foward to being modified

They fixed the crank nose halfway through 1991 so anything late 1991 onwards should be OK. Rear calipers can seize but are easily fixed.
Also look for rust around the door sill plates as moisture can get underneath. Most cars of any make would easily do 200k's plus. It depends on how they have been driven and maintained.
