NAC6 mazdaspeed!

Welcome to the forum. A great choice of cars to buy.

The code is quite simple, The NA refers to the model NA being from 1989 to 1997, or sometimes called the MK1 but most people say NA. The 6 just means 1600. And the C maybe cabriole? I have no idea what the C means.

So an NA8C is an NA model 1800
NB8C is the NB or MKII (1998 to 2004) and again the 6 or 8 are 1600/1800
The is also the new shape which is the NC started in 2004 and is the current model.

In the USA and UK, the MX5 is called a Miata, and in Japan a Mazda Eunos Roadster, but they usually drop the Eunos.

And are they common... well... F**k yes. They are the most popular convertible sports car of all time, over 400,000 of the NA were made. And all up a total of nearly 800,000 MX's were on the road by the end of 2006.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Miata

I'm surprised you couldn't find anything on the internet as there is a ton of MX5 stuff out there. Search on Miata, MX5 and you be flooded with stuff.

So how come you don't have an "I" on your keyboard?

Kind of missed part of your question sorry.

Mazdaspeed I am not sure about, as far as I am aware Mazdaspeed is just a range of bolt on accessories including Turbos and Superchargers. In Japan they put limited edition labels on everything. I don't know if they actually made any Mazdaspeed editions from the factory, there are a ltd range of supercharged NA6C's and a couple of guys on this forum have them. I think these may have been post factory modified by the Mazdaspeed division in Japan, the only Mazdaspeed Miatas I can find were 2004 and 2005 models. Others will be able to answer this one.

Have a look on the inside of the driver's door, there should be a metal plate with a model code. e.g. mine says S-SP which is a 94 S-Special

What particular features tell you it is "Mazdaspeed"?

Whoops I forgot to mention, I f you check out flyingmiata.com you can see the usa mazdaspeed version (turboed) with associated upgrades etc. One of my friends in Japan has a mazdaspeed "ro- do- su- ta" and yep its a 1.6 turbo. If it is a mazdaspeed "sp" version it may have this engine configuration. (see pic)

Mazaspeed did do a Factory refresher for NA 1600cc model ,cost around the eqivelent of $30,000nz dollars !!,They completley stripped the car down and reassembled it with later NB gear,It got a MAZDASPEED build plate when it was done If got a Jap Mazdspeed book/catalouge at work that show the process ,you could aslo get RX7 (batman) done .
If think it all got canned once FoMoCo took it over and watered Mazdaspeed down.

thanks for all that.the parts that ive spotted so far(that are mazdaspeed are as follows:struts, swaybars, mechanical LSD(mazdaspeed printed into it),extactors and exhaust, panel filter, sticker on computer, different injectors, steering wheel,g/knob,leads,roll bar,.....blah!the numer on the tag is BA-076,on a black mazdaspeed plate.car has no body kit nor asthetic enhancements.the only info i could muster, was a sentence featured in a 2004 spec article.it stated that the first generation mazdaspeed was made in 91,and that half of them were used in a racing series in japan.it goes better than a standard one(just),but wher it really shines is in the handling and diff/g/box set up.wicked, but not too cool for the road.im not trying to brag AT ALL,as i stated it is quite tired...although its interesting to hear and discuss the authenticity of it.will go into mazda and try to rustle up some info.the internet has failed me on this one...thus far.thanks again for posts

MAZDASPEED ROADSTER

Post by brownie » Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:58 pm

Tried to scan and add attachment of the article i have but can't get it to work sorry.
What they did was take your old car pulled it down completely,Rebuilt motor and box as needed, added NB suspension and brakes hardware,
Cleaned up the interior,So the car was pretty much a NA6CE brand new in 2003.
There was a Version 1 and Version 2,As best as i can make out reading a Japanesse Toyko Auto Salon mag i have is ,
Ver 1 ,was a straight forward conversion/rebuild and Ver 2 had a lot more dressup gear like strutbrace's, Coil leads,15" alloys,Mazdaspeed race seats and other Mazdaspeed parts which is what yours sounds like.
They had standard airboxes and AFM's ,Saving them probably getting into emission issues i guess,
If i could read jap i could be a bit more helpful,If i ever work out how to post the pages up on the forum i will.

I saw that this morning,Its not a Refresh unit,But must have been optioned up to the hilt when new with Mazdaspeed parts,
Nice car though,Is that the factory colour?,Would be a low production car if it is anyway.
