Fitting an MX5 "Style" bar

Post by biff » Sun Aug 24, 2008 1:43 pm

Hi all,
Does anyone have a "How to" in fitting a style bar?
Its the one with the bar across the back, two hoops over the headrests, and mounts (I believe) on the Seat belt mounting points and another on the side somewhere.
Is there someone in Christchurch who has fitted one and wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction?
I dont want to use brute force on the plastic surrounds on the seatbelt mounts, but I cannt see how it all comes apart. :?
Cheers and thanks
B

Call into work at some stage,(Mazline),Should be quite straightforward if it is anything like the ones we do.

I went down and saw the guys at Mazline, duh, silly me :(
It couldn't have been easier, after some helpful advice from Mark all is well, and it took about an hour to fit. I did have to slog out both ends on the top mount, that was the time consuming part, but after that it was easy.
There isn't any work required on the trim as there is with some bars, a great product and excellent help from the team at Mazline.

Hey Biff

Sounds great, how about posting a pic of that nice new style bar J

Re-the seat belt bolt plastic covers, I had mine off to fit a style bar and found someone had broken off the plastic clips so they were stuck on with silicon, seems to work fine. So there’s a tip for anyone who breaks theirs off.

Yea, Mark told me about those caps, and a simple push with a fine screwdriver takes care of them, and you don't break them :)
I will see what I can do about a pic, and the new rear wing.

Actually Zoruno has been hassling me to get my car into the garage section. Maybe this is a good time for both of us.

Fitting an MX5 "Style" bar

Hey Biff

I like the spoiler, nice!!! Did you have it made? I have not seen one like that before, nice and big without overdoing it. I looked at ones for other cars but they are all too wide.

Also the black style bars, nice touch, I have made some but they are just getting re-welded as the chroming guy said a couple of my highly skilled (NOT) welds were dirty and would contaminate his bath. Looking forward to getting these onto the car, I thought I was going to have to paint them but getting the welds fixed seems OK.

The spoiler is RX7, I did look at chrome, but they just didn’t look right, so black it is.
The guys at the paint shop took the time to find the right black so it blends in with the rest of the interior.
