Soft Top replacement

Post by kravenmore » Wed Oct 03, 2007 3:53 pm

My top has seen better days, there are small tears, the rear zip is on the way out and the plastic window has degraded considerably. Time for a new one

Has anyone had one replaced in wellington and if so who'd you get to do it? costs as well would be great.
I'm looking at probably sourcing a new top of trademe.

What do people think about a cabrio textured vinyl to as opposed to a standard one?
I'm leaning towards getting one without a zip out window as I never used this anyway. I've got a speaker box on the parcel shelf so the rear window was never going to sit flat when unzipped.

I'm in the early stages of giving my car an overhaul, replacing the clutch, general servicing, oil change, body kit, respray, plus a lot of other little things.

Hi, My neighbor just replaced his 91 with a canvas with glass rear window, they found the hoops rusty and the cables naf, cost around $2200.00. Looks terrific but I wonder how easy it is to keep clean after the birds have struck. Unless you unzip the plastic window it creases and shortens it's service life, so one without the zip will have the shortest life span. If you move your speaker to in between the seats and get a glass window as you are replacing the top anyway you get the best of all the options. I can show you my speaker set up if you wish I'm in Tawa and I'm sure you can have a look next door at his canvas top while your here.

Would you believe a small Ferrari, then how about a little red Corvette, well what about a classic red mx5.
