Mazda MX5 Hardtop Trouble :S

Post by boeing747 » Fri Aug 31, 2007 6:31 pm

Hi, we purchased an MX5, and the hardtop was on, we have tried to remove it, but those silver buckles at the back are causing a bit of trouble. We have unlatched all the interior latches, and we have unscrewed one of the silver latches, so now it is pivoting, but the other sides screw does not open!! Its like it hasnt been opened before, so we are wondering whether that is how it is meant to be taken off. Any help on this matter would be great!!! Thanks very much! :) (PS: We Have The MX5 Roadster)

Congratulations on your purchase. You do not need to undo the silver latches at all. Once you have released the internal latches, just slide the hardtop backwards, might need a bit of force if it has not been off for awhile. The latches slide onto raised bolts.

I can send you photos in need.

We managed to get it off, thanks soo much for your help!! We are now having a bit of a problem with the soft top, there seems to be a lot of tension, and does not stretch at good amont and will nt clip in properly, maybe because of the roll bar???? Thanks :)
