The list seems to be very quiet!

In fact I have not received any email for three days, which is most unususal.

It occurs to me that I may have a problem. Can someone send me an email so I
know it is working

Hi Eric

I think many people have been out on the roads and out and about (or in my
case out on the sea) taking advantage of the balmy weather - I've seen some
pristine examples of MX5 NA's out and about recently - a credit to their
owners when you consider that many of these cars are 16 years old now! (Will
be ringing David Parker's office this week, asking if we're going to get a
reply soon to our letter).

For my part, enjoyed the peace and quiet fishing well north of Rangitoto for
the last two days. No sound at all expect for the odd seabird and the odd
little breaking wave sloshing along on it's course.

It was great, until I headed for home. Navigating up the Waitemata Harbour
usually is no problem and most skippers are well aware of the "road rules" out
on the sea.

However, you get the odd "Kerosene Cowboy" having sipped on a mite too much
gin possibly, barrelling down the harbour in a powerful 45 foot + vessel at 35
knots who hasn't a clue and/or who has left his brain at home. Managed to
avoid one such cowboy coming the other way - but only just - he was seriously
all over the place.

Then a few minutes later, am following a runabout line astern at 30 knots when
I noticed that some of the occupants on board were quite obviously in an
advanced state of intoxication and were yahooing about. Then one young fellow
stood up and lost his footing as his boat travelled over a large boat wake.
He managed to fully somersault backwards over the stern in quick and
spectacular fashion, entering the foaming wake with a great splash. (No
lifejacket on).

I was on the spot in seconds and threw the fellow a spare lifejacket to hang
on to until his vessel came back a few moments later to retrieve him.
Fortunately he was not injured, but was somewhat shocked. "Cheers for that
mate - here're mate, here you go". I received a six pack from one of a number
of chillybins on board for my trouble and with that they were off again with a
hiss and a roar.

Looking back, it's funny how an unexpected high speed dunk in cold water can
quickly sober somebody up...

Yes it still working. My wife and I drove to Whangamata from Hamilton and
return this afternoon, with the top down in our 91. Great day out, saw a
couple of other mx5's touring top down, no waves though.
Some teenagers in an old matte black 76 Mitsi Lancer, swerved toward us in Te
Aroha township, and threw a stone at our car deliberately, hit the drivers
side sill, they kept going then accelerated away.

Has this type of thing happened to you? I considered chasing them/reporting
it to the Police, but in the end let it go, no damage apparent on this
occasion

Sorry to hear about the gearbox.
Just remebered you wanted to see some phpotos of the Molesworth Station
after I went through last November testing communications for SAR etc.

Wondered what the problem was when I saw the bonnet up. Hope its not too
serious. I thought the MX5 box was supposed to be reasonably strong.

got a ticket too! If there were any police out there. Never there when you

I am looking for a bumper. I emailed our nice friend at the MX5 Mart but had

One of the feedback i got on parts/tailights. Was check trademe. Mate! I cant
believe some of the items they sell on that for so cheap!

This seems to be the Sunday sport.

We recently followed a couple of youths down Whangaparaoa Rd and watched them
throw water bombs at cars coming in the other direction. Whilst discussing
this with Police on *555, we were witnesses to them throwing one into a
Triumph Herald Convertible, which promptly lost control & crashed, merely
taking us out as it did so.

Fortunately it hit nothing else, no one was hurt and the car was not badly
damaged. But the youths carried on their way as if it were a huge joke.

I hope they don't still think it's funny, the driver was disqualified for
this, he will be walking for the next year, if he is not too thick to take
notice of the Judge, and he probably is
