Headrest speaker phasing

Can anyone tell me what the colour codes are for the headrest speakers +
and - on both seats. I am replacing the OEMs with aftermarket and don't want
to demolish the originals to look inside.

The colour code doesn't always give the right answer. As the wiring is often
confused on the headrest speakers, the best method is to do a simple phasing
test. Disconnect the speakers with the plug under the seat. Get a 1.5volt
dry cell battery and connect it to one of the speakers. Note which way the
cone moves. Note the colours and battery polarity.. Now connect to the other
pair of wires and note the connections required for the cone to move the
same way. While you are at it, check the front door speakers as well. Ensure
that only one speaker moves for each pair of wires (per seat) as well as
sometimes the factory connections are so confused as to being connected to
both speakers at once. Mine were. Finally connect all speakers so that they
all move in the same direction for the same battery polarity. I assume the
headrest speakers will be connected to the radios rear speaker outputs with
the door speakers to the front outputs. This way you can balance the
improved sensitivity of your new speakers.
It's well worth the effort for the much improved sound.

What brand of speakers are you replacing the headrest OEMs with and how
much did they cost.

I bought them on eBay from Bass Enterprises.
They are Clarion SRC924 3.5".
They were only $US13 a pair but on top of that they wanted $US85 to send
them to NZ. So I got them to send them to a friend in San Diego ( cost
$US20) then she sent them to me which cost another $US26. An example of
selling items cheap then hitting you with an exorbitant shipping charge.
Go to eBay and search for Clarion 3.5" speakers. I could not find any 3.5s
in NZ.

Did you have to cut the foam to fit them?
