Is $850 all inclusive for 4 x Grid III a good buy?

if they are 18", a very good buy

What size/profile?

That price sounds steep. also 195/55 would be closer to stock diameter, if
there is such a size available.
I paid $280 each for 16" from memory

I think zorruno means that for only $60 odd dollars more, he got 16" tyres
compared to your 14". Usually there is more of a difference than that.
195/60/14 is an unusual size. Did you want bigger tyres than normal?
Standard is 185/60/14. 195/60s will cause your speedo to read 2.1% too slow.
No big deal I suppose. (incidentally 195/55 would cause it to read only
1.3% too slow.)
Sorry I don't know the current pricing of Dunlops, so I can't offer an
opinion there.
You could ask about the price of 185/60 though. They may be a more common
size and
hence be cheaper.

Firestone direct put a flier in my letterbox just the other day...

Bridgestone Grid-III fitted and balanced in 185/60-14 (the standard size) for
$159 each. ($636 for 4)

Biff's $135 doesnt sound too out of place if you can haggle with a private
dealer.

I have driven both 195/60 and 185/60 14inch tires of the same brand (but
Falken, not Bridgestone)... I would suggest the minor difference is not worth
the $200+ you are looking at...

The Firestone direct price is valid untill 24/12/02 (Christmas eve) so that
gives you a while to shop for a better price...

No one's said if these tyres are any good. Grid's are usually a mid-range
tyre, how do they compare with Yoko A539's for example.

This is also a concern of mine...

My Re-711's are on their last legs... But they've been discontinued, and the
"replacement" is the Grid III... but Re-710's and & Re-711's were the next
model up the line from G-Grid and Grid-II

I was wondering if anyone has personal experience of the Grid-III compared to
other tyres?

zorruno, you said you have Grid III's now... I know you used to have
Re-710's... Are they better, or simmilar, or did you notice a backward step?

I know my Re-711's are considerably superior to a friends Yoko A539's (I
swapped for a couple of weeks with Karl).

Preferences for myself would be (in order) :
- turn in (sidewall stiffness)
- grip
- noise
- life

... which looks like either Falken Azenis Sports or Bridgestone SO-3's to me. Either of which is $300+ each for 195/50x15. If RE-71's were available I'd buy them straight away ! They rocked.

Anyone else looking for racey rubber? Maybe we could band together for a better deal ...?

I would add the Toyo T1-S to that list. I think they're great and only
$249 for 205/50/15.
