Looks like I need to replace the top section ---cracks are in front, just
below the radiator cap. I understand that one needs to remove the radiator
when doing a cambelt and waterpump job. Is that correct???
If so then now would be the time to bite the $$$$ bullet and have all three
done (plus the cat removed)at once (with maybe a new thermostat thrown in).

Whilst removing the radiator will certainly give you more room to
work... I've not had any trouble replacing my timing belt and
water-pump with the radiator in place...
Also, I'm not too sure I'd be paying $200 just for a plastic top tank
when I got a whole new radiator for $304 from Trevor Morris Radiators
(Onehunga) about two years ago.
