surprise passenger

I had an unexpected passenger in my car today as I was slowing down for an
intersection (Mt Eden Rd/Balmoral Rd). There was a bang, & I found myself
(somewhat surprised) sitting next to a piece of tree branch, 80cm long by
6cm diameter. Branch entered the vehicle via the roof after a fall of
maybe 6m, making a nasty L-shaped rip in the process. There's bits of wood
dust throughout the car.

I took photos & got the name of the tree owner for the insurance company.
The damage is being assessed tomorrow morning. I expect to get a new top
out of it, as the current top is only about 2 years old & was fairly
pristine.

(BTW: as you have probably assumed from the fact that the roof was up, it
was raining at the time)
