Post by black93 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 7:26 pm

Hi
I have an alarm in my MX5 it is a Whistler Banshee. Any ideas on how it
works or where I can get a manual for it.

Hi Terry,
If you want to give me a call direct I can possibly tell you all you
need to know by asking a few questions.
Email direct for the number.
Not all car alarms are car alarms! :)
Cheers

Colin,

This reminds me that the Alpine alarm system in our MX5 seems to have gone
funny. The doors still remote lock/ unlock but the actual alarm no longer
comes on. It was in the MX5 when I bought it. It seemed a good system with
some sort of sensor that triggers on any movement in the cockpit. Good when
leaving the car top down. Any brilliant ideas?

If it's just the alarm's siren that's bung, you might (?) be able to
splice in another one from Dick Smith's/Jaycar. IIRC you can test them
by connecting them straight to 12v.

I'd imagine you'd have less luck if it's a problem in the alarm's
"brain" tho, unless you know an ace electronics solder-slinger ...

Carr alarm

Sorry Bob, They cost more to repair if we can find the fault, than a new
one. Alpine haven't made an alarm for years. It is something of a pity
as they were well regarded and had some fairly advanced features. They
don't stand scrutiny with the best available now, although I'm sure they
could have been developed.
If you would like to call me or send a private email I can give you a
couple of things to look for and check.
Cheers
