Clear Tail lights and Nickel trim

Post by poison » Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:13 pm

Clear Tail Lights

Has anyone stuck in clear tail lights? and if so are you happy with the
quality? Brand/Price/Retailer please? I have seen a few sets on various types
of cars around the place and there seems to be some fairly major quality
variations. I wonder how they will last in our NZ sun, as clear plastic
(acrylic??) can tend to craze with millions of little cracks. Thoughts anyone
please?

Nickel Interior Trim

I bought a few bits of the Nickel trip from Ross at MX5 Mart recently, and
they really look great on a black interior. I bought the vent rings (these I
think are the best bit), the dash trim (goes along the top of the glove box)
and the door trims. They make a great job of breaking up the darkness of the
interior. Perhaps not to everyone's taste but for anyone thinking about it I
can send pix.

Yea I've got a set of the clear lights.

I got them from Germany but they are the same as these ones
http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/201

Chic Lynch has a set of the US ones I think as they have red reflectors for
the indicators. Both look good. His are on a silver and mine on a red.

I think they were 99 pounds on ebay.

Cheers
Mike.

Clear Tail lights and Nickel trim

Thanks Mike

I didn't think of the "red indicator". My biggest issue is quality given there
are a few brands from around the world so it's good to know yours are good,
cheers for the link.

Have you seen the silver indicator bulbs (Navara brand - Repco) when they are
off you can't really see them in the nice clear tail lamps, but when they
flash they are still orange (probably been around for ages but new to me and
maybe someone else).

Gazza,

I bought a set from Ross, didn't like the appearance, packed them away.
You're welcome to try them.

Yes I've seen those. I went for the LED bulbs. Indicators are white when
off but coloured when on. The brake ones have 21 leds. I have a spare set
if you'd like to see them.

In pounds they were cheapish, in NZ$ it's a bit scary.

Mike.

I've got clear tail lights that I bought through a Hamilton shop (which
has since gone bust). I'm pretty sure that they are the same as the ones
that Ross Sells. I bought them when they first came out (& paid $600 for
the privilege) which must be almost three years ago. They still look
good as new, though I have never been very impressed with the indicators
(clear with orange bulbs) which don't show up very well at all in
daylight.
