Just a Rant

Post by Dez » Sat Apr 09, 2005 10:36 pm

Had my pride & joy broken into this last week by some opportunistic sod &
only discovered it today. The original cd radio unit was trashed as they had
tried to prise it out, my 'ashtray' (with the hinged flip-up lid) stolen, as
was the standard plastic hand-brake handle & knob, and the rear view mirror. A
couple of screwdrivers & wrenches with a small specialist toolkit were also
taken by those that can only be described as childish cretins. Why they left
the tasteful & highly polished brass gearknob confounds me no end. That was
dead easy to remove. The pettiness & violation of the whole theft is what
really grates & I am so angry. I'd love to say how I'm so pissed off, but
language like that isn't allowed, is it?

Anyhow the upside, & there has to be one, (God, it took me long enough to
find it), is that at last I have an excuse to get those nice after market ones
that are about, somewhere, maybe. Perhaps I could make something Simon?
No replies required, I just wanted to get it off my chest & perhaps,
understanding. Unless of course you might have lurking around, replacements of
the missing items I could buy from you (not the tools)

Hi Dez,

Don't you just feel like spraying paint stripper about half way betwen their
navel and their knees! These are people who will never have anything of value
in their life, because they don't appreciate the value of anything, from what
you say was taken, it seems to be just petty vandalism, but of course it is
not so petty to you.

Look, I dont have the original CD player, but if you want to keep the original
look, I do have an original Radio/Tapedeck which you can have with my
compliments.

I'll give you first option, but if you don't need it and anyone else on the
list does, it's free to a good home. It worked well when I took it out, but
"she who must be obeyed" wanted a CD player.

Regards

Eric

IMHO, do what Graeme and I did: be good to yourself, go to a parallel
importer, get a great CD/MP3/AM (2 bands)/FM(3 bands) 40watt per channel
aftermarket Sony head unit with a removable face plate (only about $250)
AND yell out loud to the "SCUM" who broke into your car: "Get ... !

Hi everyone,
I purchased an MX5 several weeks ago and am wanting to put in an after market stereo that I already have. The problem is I have 6 x 9 size speakers and don't know where to put them?! Is putting them where the speakers in the doors already are the only option? Has anyone else fitted larger speakers into an MX5, if so, where did you put them?! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steph. :)

Oh no Dez,
And I thought this part of the world was safe from that sort of invasion. What
happened with the alarm?
Hugh and I were in Blenheim on Saturday as he entered the Grape ride from
Forrest estate around Queen Charlotte and back. About 101 ks. Mad I think but
then some would say that I'm mad having a yellow MX5. As we were driving along
I thought about your book which I could have returned. Hindsights a wonderful
thing eh!
I have purchased a hardtop for the car but its still in Auckland as the cost
of transporting it down is upwards of $450 from various options. Looks like
adrive to Auckland is an option. At least I can see family while I'm there.
Hope you car problems sort themselves out.

Let's form a vigilante gang ('cos the cops won't be interested in helping)
track down the filth at any cost and carve out their pathetic hearts with
rusty spoons and string them up from the nearest lamp post as a warning to
others.

Or, hook their genitals to the output terminals of the MX5 altenator and give
it a rev.

Makes my blood boil when I hear about thieving b*stards, 'cos you know they're
gonna do it again to some other unlucky sod!

Hmm. For irony, we could put the not stolen brass gear knob in a sock and use
it as a 'morning star' to bash them in the head.

Grrrrrrrrrr. That's my rant.

Perhaps fitting a quality car alarm might be more productive that physical
violence

Hey "old man"

That's the most productive idea you have recorded to this list to date
!!! :-)

Given your "recognized skill" in identifying after-market accessories,
perhaps you can identify where we might be able to do a "club discount"
purchase??? :-)
