Nc mx5-an opinion

I remember the original Nissan (then known as Datsun) 240Z I owned. Nice
little sports car... now look what a pretentious hunk of metal and
plastic it is.

Then there was the original RX7 I owned. Again, another nice little
sports car... now look what a hunk of lard the RX8 is.

Now finally it's the MX5. Seems to me the Japs can't leave a good thing
alone until they ruin it!!! :)

What an UGLY steering wheel! Could they have mixed up the pictures of a
Lexus with an MX5?

I'll stick with my 91 and my wooden Nardi accessories thank you!

Bill

An interesting juxtaposition of statements from our Bill...

All three cars are manufactured by the Japanese (Japs, is not an insult
no more than Kiwi is an insult to you Ross) AND there was a ":)" at the
end of the sentence.

Christ you can be ... forget, not worth my time...

Awww, c'mon guys...not again.
I log into this forum for information, mx5 and general related chat, and pleasant banter. It's a real disappointment to find my inbox filled with jibes and insults.
Can we close this link now, or at least go back to the original topic??

thanks

Sorry Graeme I should have simply sent an email directly to Ross. I
apologise, however I don't suffer fools lightly...

okay, okay... very sorry... just my strange sense of humour running
away with me... and, hell, if we don't have a sense of humour about
ourselves, well life's just not as much fun.

As I was the recipient of your SOH, and I am known to have a warped one.
I apologise directly to you Ross if I over-reacted!

Sorry for saying this Bill, in no way trying to piss you off. Just thought it
would be a good thing to comment on. I have a few Japanese friends, so and I
asked my flatmate (Japanese) and a couple of other friends about this as I
have often wondered if it is offensive or not, 2 said yes the 3rd said not
good but she could live with it depending on the tone. So that's good as I was
never really sure.

Cheers

Let's get to the real point - is the term "rice-boy" offensive?

I ask this as someone with a lowered MX5 with a farty exhaust. :-)

P.S. As for the NC MX-5, I have mixed feelings. The overall styling is a
bit too S2000 like, but I'd still love to take one for a drive.

Same here mixed feelings, kind of like it but it looks a bit 'yuppie' or
luxury, personally I'd like it to look a bit harder. And the great big Mazda
logo on the steering wheel would have to go...

Slightly off topic, looking at my MX today and was thinking, I bought my MX
only 9 months ago completely on a whim, saw it driving along the motorway in
the morning with a for sale sign (wasn't even looking for an extra car) and
that night, had a test drive and settled on a price. I've wasted incredible
amounts of money on toys, but I've so enjoyed this one over our short summer,
just nice to drive round in (and chicks love it, but you can only pick up one
at a time :-) anyway this car well nudges ahead of my spa pool for toys a
single guy must have. Lets just hope it doesn't break down as often as the spa
:-(

Take care everyone and enjoy top-downing, even you guys in those awful green
ones :-)

I understand, no offense taken. Upon reflection, were you are located IS
a factor. For example, to make it more "personal" I could have added
"Yank" as a description for an American. For some, it is a "badge of
honour", others an "insult".

Go figure ..

Sorry Tom, but I think an S2000 looks even better. Perhaps in real life
the NC looks better.

Regarding your other comment on driving it: can we take turns??? :)
