Driving/Spot lights

Post by Vince » Thu Jan 27, 2005 11:03 pm

I want to fit some spots inside the grille similar to the factory optional
type on our 89 Jap import, and have heard that maybe the wiring is fitted from
factory in the car even if the lights aren't. And what about the dash switch.
There are three blanked off switches to the right of the steering column all
with wires connected but none of them are used for anything. Does anyone know?
Thanks, Vince.

The 3 blanks that have the wiring connected are ( L to R ) spotlight switch,
dash illumination reostat, and hardtop defogger. Although yours being an 89 it
probably won't be a hardtop defogger. The wiring will be there inside the
front bumper for the spot lights, tied up out of the way.

Carlos,

Excuse my ignorance what's a "dash illumination rheostat"?

Biff

It sounds cool :-)

Hi Biff
It is a flash name for the switch that increases or decreases the guage
illumination at night. Earlier MX5s have the wiring behind the blank but the
switch (reostat) you had to buy. From memory the switch cost $90 at the local
Mazda dealer.

Ta, maybe not so cool at that price.
