HANDS UP ALL THE TURBO FIVES.... :)
Well it seems like in the last 18 months there has been and proliferation of turbo fives in NZ (including mine)..how many do we have now???
What do you like the most about moving to the "darkside"????
i love seeing the faces of boy racers in their EVO 3's as i waste them!!(on a closed private road in controlled conditions of course)

likes :
- more torque, less traction
- tinkering has a definite result - mo'power, noise, destroyed parts etc
- great hands-on learning about the greasy bits
- kids dig it
not so good:
- instead of driving a slow car fast, ... it's the opposite.
- bit of a moneypit
- low WAF (wife acceptance factor)
- makes the dog throw up
Overall - it's all good!

hmm, not a turbo - but FI (a JR supercharger)

the supercharger sound at higher revs
excellent power to weight ratio
leaving so many so called fast cars behind

It's not about the sump as much as if you F**k it up you have to life the engine to fit the new sump.

Well the blue one have had Turbo for 3,5 years now, unfortunatly different hobbies have made it to be parked on the driveway for the last 3years. But today she have been pampered with new oil, battery and a squirt of petrol and started straight away(thats MAZDA) .
So next weekend WoF registration and booking time to be Certified, want to be legal now.
The drawback I felt with TURBO is the lack of power lowdown, everything comes as a kick in the but at 4200 rpm (my mates say it is because I drive like a GrandMa) so Maybe I should have gone for a SuperCharger

VIKING: what turbo are you running?? must be fairly big for you to be getting a kick at 4200rpm....
Either that or you seriously need an O2 clamp to get more fuel under 4000rpm. (what are you using for engine management/extra fuelling??)
My turbo hits 8 psi at 3000 rpm and goes like a cut cat all the way to red line.

That's the thing, It is not any exiting setup. It's an old HKS setup bought from Japan. Turbo is a TD05 or TD04 very similar to a GREDDY starter kit(same Turbo), set to max 5 PSI.
Nothing more added, have a Variable Pressure Regulator sitting on the shelf, will this help?
I'm not after MEGA hp just a little more tourque out of the curves.
Any help is appreciated

Hello Viking Racing guy with no name I have exactly the same HKS set-up. Have you found any instructions for the F-Con mini? Also are you in Auckland, it would be good to catch up and talk about HKS set-up's.
The problem is that if you 'up' the boost then the fuel injectors can't keep up and you will run lean and then.... big bad bang. I'm trying to find some slightly larger injectors so my normal computer will still maybe be OK with them, that way I can up the boost a little. I have been told that if you put too bigger injectors then it will always run too rich down low, the result is poor idle engine coking up on the inside and a dirty oxygen sensor, giving poor readings and shortened sensor life span.

The AFPR did not get installed (no instruction) so it is exactly as you saw it 2 or 3 years ago.
Will the AFPR help out on the Low Down Power?

I'm sure you have a lot later HKS kit then me (my was bought 2nd hand from Nippon) I looked everywhere for the F-Con mini and it´s not around
I'm in the Wild South Auckland, so we could meet up and you can teach me a couple of things about Turbo.

I think there are different types of AFPR - I have one that adds about 6lb of fuel pressure for every 1 lb of boost. The AFPR sits on the return line and so inceases the fuel pressure going through the injectors as the boost goes up. It came with the JR supercharger kit and has the instructions on fitting and adjusting it for idle pressure. as far as low down - I have no idea, however without inceasing your fuel when you are on boost I would have expected you to be running lean and at risk.VIKING RACING wrote:
