gearbox oil

Post by DaveR » Mon Aug 21, 2006 9:31 am

Hi Folks

The car's going in for a WOF this week and I'm tempted to get the
gearbox oil changed. I've heard that synthetic gearbox oil is the way
to go to improve the "slickness" of the change. Is that true? If so,
what do you recommend?

The gear change currently is pretty good, although a bit notchy from 1st
to 2nd when cold - improves when it's warmed up.

Thanks

Dave

Redline oil will transform your gearbox and get rid of any stickyness between 1st & 2nd

You can get redline from Brake and Transmission.  All reviews that I have read have been very positive.

My recomendation is not to think about doing it.... but do it!!

When I got got my 89NA 6 months ago I acutally looked into having the gearbox done as the gears were really 'notchy'......especially first to second which at times, was a real battle.

It was suggested to me to give synthetic oil a go first, which I did (and I am so glad I did!). The differance was almost instantaneous and it continued to get better and better over the next few months.

All I can say is it completely transformed my gearbox and it's an absolute joy to drive now. I would never have believed it could do what it did if someone told me, so I suggest you just do it and see it for yourself.
