Hi all, Just purchased my first MX5 (1998 NB classic red), and I've even had a few chances to take the top off in the middle of a Wellington winter
I have seen a number of photos of cars with covers for when the soft top is down (tonneau boot covers maybe?) and they make it look quite tidy.
Does anyone know where I can buy one from? I have had a look on TradeMe but have not found any to fit a 1998 and also in black.
Also is there anything special that needs to be done to protect the soft top from sun damage, fading etc?
Thanks in advance
James.

you can buy roof covers from car dealers - look for an MX5 on their yard, asik them if they have the roof cover, wave $100 at them....

I bought one off Trademe from a Wellington seller, his handle is "wysiwyg", something close to that anyway. I paid $185 for mine in black, it arrived promptly and is in as new condition.
Try a question on one of his other items, he usually has things in the MX5 section. He has the MX5 cap for sale at the moment.

They are about $230 new from Mazda with MX5 club discount, might pay to check there as well. Be carefull as there is a difference between the series I (pop up lights) and the series II (fixed lights)

And yes, you do need to protect the underside of the top when it's down as it's not UV stabilised.
Personally I don't use my tonneau cover much but I always use a piece of polarfleece to tuck over the roof when it's down. I've got the fabric attached to a 30mm tube & arrange it so that it also sandwiches inside the (plastic) window - you obviously won't need to worry about that part of it.

Hi, just a quick update. I picked up a NB series cover from Capital City Mazda in Wellington, RRP was $295 and $260 with club discount.
